In September 2017 we traveled to China and Mongolia for two months as part of the One Belt One Road International Tour Exhibition, an initiative of the Chinese government to strengthen the commercial/cultural dialogue with the west. In its 2017 edition the project included two collective exhibitions and a period of artistic residency in Mongolia, exploring the country with a group of international artists.
In China we participated in the One Belt One Road International Exhibition at the Hohhot Museum, where my works from The Blood Series were censored out of the event the day previous to the opening. In Ulan Bator we took part in the exhibition Harmony Makers, UMA Gallery.
The body of work resulting from this project is a series of large surreal landscapes that study nature and creative process as ritual. The paintings are currently developing as part of my residency time at VARDA Artists Residency in Sausalito, California.
